Lesson Transcript:
To grow cannabis indoors you need the right equipment. If you don’t have the right equipment, you’ll run into problems. So we are now going to go shopping at growershouse.com and we’re going to buy some stuff, and I’m going to show you exactly what you need. This here by the way, is all you need to grow weed. This is the ultimate low budget setup. This will work, you could put this into a closet or a pantry, but it will be quite smelly and the light is very bright, so we are going to set up a grow tent. Below this video is a grow tent configurator where you can build your own. Let’s set up a grow tent together.
After the tent, we need a our light. The light is very important because in nature, Cannabis grows in direct sunlight. Even our strongest lamps can’t duplicate sunlight outside, but we can try. Choosing the right light is a bit more complex, so we made a separate video on that. For now don’t worry about it; we’re going to use this LED unit.
Since you are growing plants, you will need to provide airflow. Plants need CO2 (carbon dioxide) and other things to thrive so our fan will be on 24/7 every day to provide that flow of fresh air. You also need to control the odor of your plants otherwise your neighbor will find out what you’re doing. Maybe they’ll love it…or maybe they’ll call the police on you. It’s better not to take any risks. And speaking of risks, know the laws regarding growing cannabis where you live before you start growing.
Now we will hang this unit in our grow tent with these straps. You could also use bungee cords, it’s just important that you hang it in there because if you attach it to the frame the vibrations will carry over and the whole thing will be noisy. The air filter gets attached to the fan with tape. Here are two more things before we’re done: a fan speed controller because the fan is very strong and doesn’t need to run full speed all the time, so we slow it down a bit. And a timer switch, to switch the light on and off automatically, so we don’t have to.
So that is all we need. We have a tent, we have a light, we have a fan, and we have an air filter. Looking pretty, pretty good. Our plants will live in fabric pots. These fabric pots are great because they allow your roots to breathe and the plants grow very well in them. We are growing in soil, with this Ocean Forest potting mix. It’s important to use really good potting mix. It’s important to use a good potting mix with a base set of nutrients in it. I bought some nutrients here, but we’re going to talk about it in another video.
This is all you need to grow weed at home. It’s time to start a grow. See you in the next video.
