Lesson Summary:
In this lesson, Jack teaches how to germinate your Cannabis seeds.
Lesson Transcript:
This is a windowsill greenhouse. In it there are these peat pellets. This is a very safe way to germinate seeds, and the rate of the seeds that germinate is close to 100%. Here’s how you do it.
You will need this product and filtered or bottled water. I will be germinating 10 seeds because around 50% of the seeds will turn out male, which I would have to remove. If I was using feminized seeds, I’d be confident that they’d all turn out female and I would only have to germinate 5 seeds.
I fill this mini greenhouse with a bit of my filtered water and let it sit for ten minutes. And this is what happens during that time.
Now the peat pellets are big and soft and we put one seed in each one of them. It’s best not to touch the seeds or at least wash your hands really well. Now we close the lid and we place this in a slightly warm space. Seeds can germinate in darkness until the plants pop out. It’s important not to put this into direct sunlight because it will get too hot. So, now we have to time travel 4 days into the future.
Hey look at that! The plants have sprouted. Sweet, aye? This is a very special moment in time. Make sure to write down today’s date because you’ll need to know how old your plants are throughout the process. In the course notes, you’ll find a grow journal to fill out. It has a place for you to write down today’s date. I recommend you print the sheet; the link is under the video, and Write today’s date. If you don’t want to print on paper, you could also make a note on your grow journal inside the forum.
Thanks to the peat pellets our baby plants are in a well protected spot, and they have some nutrients available for them. Once the seedlings are visible, we transplant them into a bigger pot. To prepare the pots, we fill them with potting mix, dig a hole in the middle, and put the seedling in there. You put the whole thing in there, including the peat pellet. Put it deep in the pot, so the soil can support the stem. This now goes under the light, and I carefully give it some water. And with that your grow has officially started. Congratulations! Great Job!
And now I hope to see you in the next video where I talk about when your should give this little girl some water.
