A “landrace” strain is a rare qualification for particular varieties of Cannabis. These cultivars have very stable genetics and have grown indigenous to certain regions, typically to the point where they can even grow completely untended. These strains of cannabis often have existed for decades if not centuries. Landrace strains are desirable for breeders due to their unique traits and genetic stability.
Many landrace strains are typically named after the regions in which they are found indigenously. Some examples include “Acapulco Gold” or “Hindu Kush.”
