Bacillus thuringiensis (BT)

Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) is a gram-positive, soil dwelling bacterium. It is most commonly used as a biological pesticide, and is frequently used in organic organic agriculture to manage pests. It is one of more well-known biopesticides and is generally considered safe. Common genetically engineered organisms including BT Corn, which has been modified to produce pesticidal proteins that are manufactured by Bacillus thuringiensis.
